HOW TO GET TO SICILY
Sicily is closer than you think
By Plane
Sicily is easily reachable by plane. There are several direct flights from airports all over Europe, but you can also choose an indirect flight through many major European airports.
- Catania www.aeroporto.catania.it - Aeroporto Internazionale "Vincenzo Bellini" di Catania, Fontanarossa (CA). Situated south of the city, it is the busiest airport in Sicily and one of busiest in Italy. It connects the island to numerous European destinations such as Londo, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and Madrid. For full details, have a look here.
- Comiso www.aeroportodicomiso.eu - Aeroporto "Pio La Torre" di Comiso, Comiso (RG). Comiso Airport is a small airport located 15 km from Ragusa. There are direct flights from Rome, Milan and Pisa, but also from some European cities such as Brussels and London. For full details, have a look here.
- Palermo www.aeroportodipalermo.it - Aeroporto Internazionale "Falcone e Borsellino" di Palermo, Punta Raisi (PA). It is the second busiest airport on the island and it is located 35 km northwest of Palermo, the capital city of Sicily. There are direct flights from most European destinations. For full details, have a look here.
By Train - Eco-friendly option🌱
From the major cities of Sicily, there are services to Naples, Rome and Milan (for further information, please visit the website of the Italian National Railway TRENITALIA); this is achieved by the trains being loaded onto ferries which cross the Strait (Please see the section 'Ferry' below).
By Ferry
If you plan to bring your own car or have hired a car in a different part of Italy, at some point you will need to take a ferry to get to the island. The same goes for if you are arriving by train.
